From 23 September-6 October, local creative Max Lyandvert, a multi-award-winning composer, sound designer and stage director, will be working on his project Lament 1+2 in the Yalagang Room.

Lament 1+2 investigates the relationship between the ‘act of performance’ and the audience that the performance depends on.

It is an installation for video with a grid of wooden chairs, electronically triggered so that its wood resonates, effectively turning the chair into a speaker.  The audience sits and observes a mirror audience on screen which makes them present in the space, with the work, rather than passive observers.

The audience are seen as both performers and spectators and as the link between the past (the narrative in the video) and the present, with the voices and sounds that are heard, creating the experience in this liminal space.

Join Max on Saturday 5 October, 2pm-6pm to experience this original new work.

Waverley Council’s Local Creative Collaborations program supports local artists to create and develop work, offering showings for local audiences and making a positive contribution to the development of a vibrant artistic life at the Bondi Pavilion.  Find out more here.
