Learn hands on creative repair techniques – such as sashiko stitching, patching, darning with a focus on denim!
Enjoy three hours of relaxed stitching, meet some new friends and bring your beloved denim items back to life with textile artist Leah Giblin. It’s sew easy!
You will learn how to:
Mend your clothes with decorative stiches
Hand sew denim patches
Patch with a mini darn-loom
Repair and hem denim using a sewing machine
Bring your own worn pair of denim jeans or jacket. Materials and sewing machine will be provided on the day.
No previous sewing experience necessary. Tea and coffee provided.
About Leah Giblin
Leah Giblin is a clothing and textile artist, consultant, educator, author and sustainable fashion advocate working in Sydney, Australia.
Leah currently teaches fashion and textiles at UNSW Sydney. Her educational focus on mending, natural dyeing and upcycling has seen her deliver workshops at museums, schools, councils and festivals. With an educational focus on sustainability and the elimination of textile waste, Leah champions care and repair. She advocates for meaningful and long-lasting relationships with our clothing.
