Join esteemed artists Michele Barker and Anna Munster as they share their Arctic odyssey as part of Summerama. In 2023 Barker was invited to undertake a two-week exploration of Svalbard, aboard a specially equipped sailing ship, where she witnessed first-hand the dire effects of climate change in the Arctic, an area transforming six times faster than the rest of the planet.

Anna and Michele are award-winning media artists, their 25-year collaboration spans experimental cinema, acoustic environments, and critical explorations into the aesthetics of data and ecology. In this talk, the pair will give insights from their trip and offer a special preview of their new work 'Ecologies of Duration,' created from Michele’s Arctic materials. The project uses aerial and underwater drones to depict the varying timescales of human and planetary experiences.

Specially presented for Summerama, visitors will experience firsthand how innovative video techniques can reveal climate change events that often elude human comprehension.
