A program for the Waverley local creative community to connect and create at Bondi Pavilion

Our Local Creative Collaborations program supports local artists to create and develop work, offering showings of work-in-development for local audiences and being core contributors to the vibrant artistic life of Bondi Pavilion.

This opportunity is available to local creatives at all stages of their practice from emerging to established. We recognise locals as any Waverley Council resident or any creative with a demonstrable connection to the Waverley community.

Priority will be given to local creatives and/or projects with a strong resonance to the local community and local audiences. Priority will also be given to projects that involve the development of new artistic work(s) or creative practice with strong public presentation outcomes.

Local Creative Collaborations launched in 2023 and since then, the program has supported 16 projects, supporting local artists to develop and share new creative projects at our Yalagang Room.

Located on the Ground Floor, this is a multi-purpose, multi-artform community and creative space, enhancing the artistic life of the Bondi Pavilion building.

Bondi Pavilion is an inclusive cultural space, welcoming applications from individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds including First Nations, culturally and linguistically diverse, all sexualities, genders, neurodiversities and access artists.

Successful projects will receive:

  • Subsidised venue hire of the Yalagang Room for up to two weeks
  • Up to $5,000 financial contribution to support artists’ fees and direct project costs
  • Venue and technical staff in-kind as required.

Please note the requirement for a public presentation outcome at the conclusion of residency where artists share their work with the community and supporters. This could take the form of a Q & A with the artist, a showing of work-in-progress or a workshop.
