Bondi WAVE is one of Sydney’s most established and successful contemporary music programs for upper primary and high school students. For more than 40 years, young people have been guided by top industry professionals as they learn to write, arrange, and perform original music.

Last year, 53 young musicians across 10 bands came together with the program’s mentors, bringing their passion and creativity to celebrate the WAVE'S 40th anniversary.

In 2026, across this 12-week course – designed for emerging bands or individual musicians looking for a crew – participants work each week with our rotating lineup of industry professionals, including: Ben Fink (The Whitlams), Athanasia, Kristof Neyens (Boy Soda), Jason Rooke (The Tenants), and Brendan Gallagher (Karma County).

The program culminates in a concert performance and a professional recording of each band’s debut, launched at Bondi Pavilion Theatre.

Whether students are new to music or already experienced players, the Bondi WAVE program offers an inspiring introduction to playing in a band and creating original music. Sign up here!
