Join us as we celebrate International Women's Day 2026 by honouring Bondi-born trailblazer, world champion surfer and dedicated campaigner for equality Pauline Menczer.
Enjoy complimentary refreshments on arrival before moving into the theatre for an inspiring conversation with the 2026 award winner led by Michaela Kalowski.

Pauline Menczer is a pioneer, rule breaker and local legend. The Bondi-born surfing world champion and Australian Surfing Hall of Fame inductee is an outspoken advocate for women in sport and a dedicated campaigner for equality. Pauline’s continued mission is to inspire those who are dealing with or who have dealt with autoimmune diseases, sexism, misogyny and homophobia in their lives.
Michaela Kalowski is a Sydney based literary interviewer and curator of writers & ideas festivals. Highlight interviews include Margaret Atwood, Tim Minchin, Turia Pitt and Markus Zusak. From 2020 to 2024 she curated Big Weekend of Books, ABC Radio National’s annual on-air writers’ festival. Michaela has conducted radio interviews and presented programs across ABC radio & TV. She produces & hosts a monthly books conversation event for Petersham Bowling Club. She's co-presenter & co-writer of a two-part podcast for ABC RN, tracing part of her family’s history, called Laya’s Way Home.
