re:group performance collective

A Bondi Festival 2025 event.

In a live onstage docu-drama that combines mischievous meta-comedy with emotional authenticity, 11-year old documentary filmmaker Bub, searches for the truth in the aftermath of her family breakdown.

Following seasons at Belvoir St Theatre and Melbourne’s RISING, the inventive and unexpected live cinema of POV is coming to Bondi Festival. Each night, a young performer works with two different, unrehearsed adult actors for the first time. As Bub guides these actors to re-enact her personal experiences, these brave (or foolhardy) performers discover the story in real time, negotiating difficult questions about parenting, agency, mental health and how we speak to children.

POV is the latest experiment in onstage filmmaking from re:group performance collective. After indie flick Coil, which sold out its Bondi Pavilion run in 2023, and sci-fi UFO, this is re:group’s version of a documentary: playful, urgent and live on stage.
